Business · Refugee crisis
Humanitarian Holiday
Final business class: develop and pitch an entrepreneurial venture that helps resolve the refugee crisis and makes money doing it. We went at voluntourism — the most stigmatised industry available to us.

The problem
The brief forced the two halves together: the profit, and the people the profit comes from. Staying socially conscious while the model still made money was the entire difficulty — and pretending it was not would have been the easy way out.
What I did
Took the criticised end of the market on purpose: exposure to the crisis for people who want to help, and a credible route for them to get there. I carried finances, marketing, documentation, customer service, and operations, and the whole thing is evidenced in the process book.
Outcome
A complete plan, pitch, and process book — and the clearest example I have of business work where the ethics were the design problem rather than a disclaimer at the end.
